Guidelines


"Active List" by action taken when Association formed is to consist of two hundred (200). At succeeding meetings it has been the decision of the participating secretaries not to change this number.

"Paid Waiting" the number of people on this list has been expanded from year to year by action of the secretaries. List is currently "Frozen".

"Excused" can only be in writing to Association Secretary prior to October 1st each year, and must be for a valid reason certified by your League Secretary. "Work" is no excuse. "Out of Work" is.

Persons on "Paid Waiting" list move up to "Active" lists as openings occur.

"Paid Waiting" list is kept by date of entrance. Fee is $10.00

Persons on "Honorary" who wish to again become participants can advise Secretary "In Writing" and will revert to end of "Paid Waiting" and must include $10.00 re-entry fee.

Tournament handicaps are established by scores of those rounds played at Annual tournament, and are figured by U.S.G.A. System.

 

Only those participants with "Established Tournament Handicap" are eligible for participation in "Low Net" and/or "Team" competition. Handicaps figured annually.

Host Local determines number of persons who may participate in accordance with golf facilities available and in this order:

  1. Active
  2. Paid Waiting
  3. Honorary
  4. Guests - limited to Host Local only

Membership in Wireman's Golf Association is limited to members in good standing of construction locals and is non-transferable. All entries must include entrants I.O. Card Number. Person making entry is responsible for all entries being in accord with above. Any Local in violation will be barred from Wireman's Golf Association forever.

 

To fill a 3-man team, a man from a 4-man team may be used. Man used must have handicap based on minimum of five (5) previous rounds in W.G.A. events. Must be named on entry prior to Tournament.

Action taken as November 1987 meeting permits future Host Locals to schedule either a two (2) day 36 holes event or a three (3) day 54 hole event - three (3) day event on three (3) courses will make scheduling and scoring easier.

Availability of three (3) courses will determine kind of event.

Action taken at 1988 meetings mandated all Locals to include I.O. Card Number and Year of Birth to be eligible for events.

Action taken during 1998 meetings mandate all Locals roster's to include I.O. Card Number and Year of Birth to be eligible for events.

Action taken at October 26th, 1991 meeting resulted in the following:

  1. Late arrival for scheduled starting time or unauthorized change of starting time will result in ""DISQUALIFICATION" and not playing on the day of late arrival.
  2. Hospitality Room participation to be limited to the members of the Wireman's Golf Association. This action was taken to preclude any incidents occurring involving wives, girlfriends, etc..

 

Action taken at October 15th, 1995 meeting resulted in the following:

  1. All participants must respect golf course "Dress Codes."

Action taken at the November 6, 1999 meeting resulted in the following:

  1. No request for special foursomes be honored by the Host Local. Secretaries fell this defeats the intent of the organization. Consideration will be given to those with health problems.
  2. Rain out day. Low score for the number of days played is the winner.

Action taken at October 14, 2000 meeting resulted in the following:

  1. The next year's host local will sell the 50/50 tickets each year.
  2. If a local has one extra man he may be added to any team, but the extra man must be the highest handicap man. If a local has two extra men they may be added to any team, but the two extra men must be the highest handicap men. If a local has three extra men they may be added to any team, but the three extra men must be the three highest handicap men. The players being added to a team must be the highest handicap men in the local.

 

Action of the August 13, 2002 meeting:

  1. The make up of teams in the guidelines does not apply to team changes caused by no shows at the tournament.

Action of the October 11, 2003 meeting:

  1. The host local will have name tags for the participants in the tournament.

Action of the October 2, 2004 meeting:

  1. Only tournament entrants shall be allowed on the golf course unless prior approval from tournament director of host local.

Action of the October 8, 2005 meeting:

  1. To rename the W.G.A. Tournament the, "Tom Rohrbach Memorial Golf Tournament."

Action of the Oct. 7, 2023 Meeting:

  1. Eliminate status of "Honorary" and convert to "Inactive"
